Erin Condren Life Planner vs. The KIT Planner

Crafts • Planner Love • Random Ramblings • Reviews

Here it is.. I finally recorded my first official YouTube video, so please don’t be too harsh since I’m a newbie at this. (I’ll get better, I promise 😉 )

I tried a different planner for a couple of weeks.. yep, I only made it a couple of weeks… maybe not even that long before going back to my Erin Condren Life Planner aka ELCP. I’ll never stray again.. watch the video and you’ll see why. I’ll be doing a more in depth review of the ELCP at a later date… once I recover from the anxiety of doing this one. 😉

If you are interested in an Erin Condren Life Planner, you can save $10 off your first order by using this link and signing up for an account. CODE FOR $10 OFF After that, you’ll be sent a link with the coupon code. The code is only good for 30 days, I believe.. so don’t create your account until you are ready to order. If you don’t see the email, be sure to check your junk folder.

If you would like to purchase a KIT Planner,  visit their ETSY STORE.

Crafting ADD… The struggle is real.

Crafts

CADD

Just as the title states… I suffer from Crafting ADD… or CADD I guess you could say. I’m sure I’m not the only one who suffers with this ailment. I’ve never really had a crafting ‘niche’ per say.

I went through a jewelry making phase, so of course I bought TONS of jewelry making supplies. I still enjoy making jewelry, but I made so much of it that I kind of got burned out on it.

Then came knitting.. I was a scarf knitting fool for a couple of months. I bought knitting needles.. yarn out the wazoo.. etc. I knitted until my fingers got charley horses.

*Funny story… the whole reason I tried knitting was because I was marathon watching Dawson’s Creek on Netflix and noticed Jen knitting a scarf. It was winter and I thought, “Hey, I could use a scarf.”

ADD alert.. “Squirrel!”

I knitted and knitted. My son got a scarf, I got a scarf.. I almost got a second scarf, but I think I got a 3rd of the way through and well… lets just say I think the needles are still stuck in the ball of yarn with my unfinished scarf. CADD had struck again…

I made a wreath (pictured above) and I wasn’t happy with it. It needs something I’m just not sure what… I think the ‘C’ is too small… so the wreath is no longer on the door until I can figure out how to tweak it into something acceptable. (Oh, and our door is now turquoise… I have a bit of a turquoise fetish… so now the ribbon on the wreath may need to be a different color… hence my dilemma.)

A couple of years ago I decided to try cookie and cupcake decorating.. I did have a Kitchenaid mixer and all.. it was time to put that baby to good use. I went out that night and bought the Wilton decorating tips.. not the little set, but the big $40 one. Of course, if you are going to do it.. you can’t just dip your toe in the water.. you gotta jump in with both feet, right? Plus, I had a coupon so it was perfectly justifiable. 😉

Now, I’m back to knitting. All crafting comes full circle at some point. I go from one thing to the other.. I’m a bit of a crafting gypsy that way. Any who, everyone is getting scarves. I may even attempt a slouchy beanie or two…  since I’m tired of shelling out $20 a pop on Etsy to supply my nephew and son’s slouchy beanie needs. I figure March, going into springtime is the perfect time to knit scarves and beanies. *snort* Don’t judge me. Maybe I’ll complete them all in time for winter. 😉 Of course, none of the yarn I have will do. I have to get new yarn because my tastes have changed. Tastes are funny that way.. they do that a lot… or mine do anyway. But that’s a whole other blog post..

I think most… if not all creative people experience CADD from time to time.. but my husband might argue that I go through it a little more than most.

What is a CADD person’s dreamland? Pinterest… and of course Hobby Lobby! Aaaand, I used to have to drive a good 40 miles to get to the closest Hobby Lobby, so I didn’t really go as often as I would like. But… one just opened less than 5 miles from my house.  So, here’s to all my fellow CADD peeps. CADD-ers UNITE! Craft on!

I wonder if Hobby Lobby offer a rewards credit card? Hehe 😉

Valentine Goodie Bags

Crafts

I have been anxiously awaiting the day that I could finally make cute little treats and fun things to take to Lane’s class. I think that might be part of the reason I didn’t completely go into a full blown breakdown when he started Pre-K.  Of course, I had the “Oh, my baby is growing up..” thoughts, but I was totally ready to be one of the Mom’s like my Mom was.  I could always count on her to be there when classroom parties were going on, and to have something ‘homemade’ to bring along. 🙂

I found this idea on Pinterest.. yes, another one. Ok, so I’m not very original.. hush!

First we had to cut out the ‘From Lane’ strips his teacher sent home so we could attach them to the Valentine tags.

( This isn’t really a necessary step to the process, but he’s so dang cute that I had to include it. 🙂 )

Basically, all I did was order the shovels, buy some thin red ribbon, cellophane treat bags, and assorted ‘goodies’.

You can either write ‘I Dig You’ on the shovels themselves with paint pens, or do as I did (because we had to have something to attach the ‘From Lane’ labels to) and print tags using card stock.

Fill the bags adding 1 shovel and goodies, then tie with a strip of ribbon.  I attached the tags by using a hole punch and running the ribbon through the hole before tying the bow.  Pretty simple, and they are too cute!

Here is the PDF for the printable Valentine Tags  I used.

Rudolph Goodie Bags

Crafts • Party Ideas

I made these for Lane’s classmates, along with the Rudolph Hot Chocolate Bags. They turned out really cute!

You will need:

Lunch size brown paper bags

Paper Hole Punch

1″ Red Pom Poms

Brown Pipe Cleaners

Wiggly Eyes

Step 1

Glue eyes and red nose on the paper bag. Be careful not to place them too high up because you will need to fold the bag in following steps.  Allow to dry completely before proceeding to Step 2.

Step 2:

Fill bag with ‘goodies’, then fold bag twice about 1 1/2″ folds.  Then use a hole punch to punch holes in both corners of bag.

Step 3:

Fold pipe cleaners in half with one side slightly longer.

Step 4:

Stick loop end of pipe cleaner through hole and then pull long ends through the loop. Play around with it until you get the shape of ‘antlers’ that you like. I just looped the ends and staggered them out a little.

That’s all there is to it!

Sure to make the kiddos happy!
